In Poland, as in many other Middle and East European countries, educational reform is a constant topic of public discussion and newspaper headlines. The reform is aimed at changing the structure, giving more responsibility for the curriculum to the individual schools and stressing so called key competencies. The reform movement is supported by several projects backed by the EU. One of these projects is 'Project Kreator'. It has a small academic support group. The project started research that uses action research methods in a pilot study aiming at materials and methods for classroom activities and at getting data that can help to improve the new inservice courses for teachers. A group of teachers trained by 'Kreator Project' and trying to implement the materials and teaching style of 'Kreator' is subject to case studies that are being conducted to get feedback for the Program developers. In our presentation we will concentrate on the research methods used and the improvement process of these methods.
