Network Meeting 2018, Bolzano

Comments and ideas from members at Network Meeting 2018, Bozen/Bolzano

Recent developments on EE/ESD/GCE in your country or internationally we want to be aware of?

  • Personal sustainability /personal approaches to ESD
  • Nordic Conference on ESER every second year (next: Okt. 2627 2018, Örebro Sweden)
  • ESD as an element of assessment of all teachers from 2019 in Hungary
  • Norway: New national curriculum 2020 – ESD as a common theme in year 113

Is there an ESD/EE/GCE academic association or network in your country or region? (Name, contact,...)

  • ANGEL Network (A world forum for academics and researchers in global education)https://angel-network.net/
  • LfS (Learning for Sustainability Scotland)
  • Eco Schools Scotland
  • Fachdidaktikzentrum  NMG & NE PH Bern (Switzerland)
  • EEASA, AAU, SADCREEP, ELRC (Southern Africa)
  • Invite researchers from outdoor education networks, Journal: JAEOL
  • DGFE – Commission on ESD

Questions/Issues you want to pose to the network?

  • Is there any interest in writing a position paper? (Topic suggested: Education & political call for sustainability; what is education?
  • An EE/ESD/ESER network meeting /gathering /workshops at the Emerging researchers conference?
  • Add global citizenship /outdoor education to the name?
  • Do you have intentional plans to collaborate with networks in Africa?
  • How to involve social groups/people which are not working in academic institutions? Transdisciplinary Linking?
  • Would this network be interested to collectively and personally pioneer academic life with less or no flying to show climate leadership? Flying usually dominates our carbon footprints as researchers…
  • To organise few hours tour in school /NGO to see EE/ESD in practice next year in Hamburg?

Ideas for people in the network to work together?

  • Between ECERs:
    • Commenter 1: Include section on newsletter for people who want to find collaborators; Social media; organise webinars, if that would be helpful
  • During ECER:
    • Commenter 2:
      • ‘Speed dating’ sessions to facilitate introductions
      • Sessions devoted to collaboration (beforehand: people submit interests, what sort of things they would like to work on ect.
    • Commenter 3: Link with social justice & outdoor

Comment on: How to make network call more relevant (more people respond to it)?

  • Have different groups of mailing list and one that will relate to call
  • Diffuse the call in the French community

Comment on: What topics could we focus on in a summer school, pre-conference seminar?

  • Personal sustainability /personal approaches to ESD
  • Importance of emotions as deeper lying determinants of attitudes / behaviour/values related to ESD
  • Methodology
  • PreConference on ESEF/EE / ESD & Social Justice
