Network Meeting 2016, Dublin

The meeting was attended by 14 participants the majority of whom were new to the network. 

The agenda included:

Aims and purposes of the network
A brief summary was provided and the distinctive foci of the network revisited in light of recent political and social changes     

Election of new convenors

This conference was the first since  the  network’s link convenor, and founding member, Professor Dolf van Veen stepped down. The network is in a period of transition as a second convenor has also stepped down, Professor Ruth Leitch. These changes have  been responded to by the appointment of two new convenors. Professor Michael Jopling, University of Northumbria and Dr Stephanie Burns, Queens University Belfast.

Improvements for 2017 conference

There was a lengthy discussion of how to develop sessions so that they would be more cohesive and also strategies to  encourage more symposia. The discussion focussed on the use of theoretical foci, such as critical theory, and methdological approaches, such as ethnographies of exclusion and young people lives.

Communication
The meeting discussed the development of an email distribution list and the link convenor stated that he would look into setting one up
