2024 - Network Name Change

After ECER 2024, Network 05 changed its name from "Children and Youth at Risk and Urban Education" to "Children and Youth at Risk and Education".

2019 - Change in Link Convenor

After ECER 2019, Michael Jopling was named sole link convenor of NW 05.

2016 - Change in Link Convenor

Mark Hadfield was elected as Link Convenor during ECER 2015 and acted as such for ECER 2016 and onwards.  He is supported by the Deputy Link Convenor, Michael Jopling.

2011 - Interview with Link Convenor

At ECER 2011 "Urban Education" in Berlin, Graham Attwell and his colleagues from Pontysysgu interviewed the link convenor Dolf van Veen.

1996 - Network Founded, First Convenors

The research network was established in 1996 and is a joint effort of the former European Board of Urban Education and Social Policy and the OECD-network on Children and Youth at Risk. Founding members include professor Christopher Day (UK) and Professor Dolf van Veen (Netherlands). The research network has an active core group of members. Every two years an additional research conference is organised around an important topic.

    Dolf van Veen served as link convenor over the years until ECER 2016 and was supported by  co-convenors including Professor Maria Martinez (Spain), Dr. Kay Haw (England), Dr. Ruth Leitch (Ireland), Professor Mark Hadfield (England) and Dr. Anders Garpelin (Sweden).
