Vilnius

Since the time of Grand Duke Gediminas, whose letters of 1323 first mention the city, Vilnius has been a meeting place of cultures, languages, and ideas. Situated at the confluence of the Neris and Vilnia rivers, the city grew into the historical capital of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania and developed as an important political, economic, and intellectual centre of the region.
