Summary of Network Meeting:
(1) The Network 6 Meeting in Copenhagen was opened by the link convenor Petra Grell, the co-convenor Yngve Troye Nordkvelle and the emerging researches co-convenor Estella Hebert. The third co-convenor, Nelson Gonçalves, could not attend ECER 2017. They welcomed 19 Members from nine different countries – Austria, Croatia, Denmark, England, Germany, Norway, Scotland, Sweden, Switzerland – who attended the meeting. Unfortunately many colleagues from the south of Europe were not able to participate at ECER 2017 in Copenhagen.
(2) The convenors presented relevant news, concerning the EERA Council and EERA Office, the Network Seminar in Berlin, next conferences (2018 Bolzano, Italy; 2019 Hamburg, Germany), and new presentation formats.
(3) The Election of the link-convenor and new co-convenors took place. Petra Grell was re-elected as link convenor (2017-2021), Yvonne Fritze, Geir Haugsbakk, Klaus Rummler, and Rachel Shanks were elected as new co-convenors (2017-2021). Nelson Gonçalves, Yngve Nordkvelle and Estella Hebert had been elected in 2015, so they will continue their work as co-convenors until 2019. Next election will take place in 2019.
(4) The network evaluated the ECER 2017 and discussed experiences: Network 6 appreciated the quality of the presentations, the superb facility in Copenhagen, the friendliness and support of the staff, and atmosphere at the conference. Some possibilities for minor improvements were mentioned in order to pass these ideas to the organizers.
(5) Network activities, such as joint research and publication projects were presented and discussed. A small conference on the topic of critical perspectives on ICT in education will take place in Lillehammer, Norway, in early 2018.
(6) Plans for the next ECER, 2018 in Bolzano, were the last topic at the meeting. The link convenor of Network 18 (sports studies and physical education), Fiona Chambers, stopped by to present an idea for a joint activity on “digital health” which was appreciated. Others are planning a joint symposium with Network 12 (LISnet).
(7) Furthermore the Network members discussed the topic of an EERA mailing list through the website, and agreed to give it a try over a period of one or two years, although communication via mailing lists has well described problems.
