EERA Sessions

The main aim of this EERA invited session is to advance the reflection and discussion on key challenges in doing educational research from a European perspective and, at the same time, to consolidate and disseminate this future product of EERA: the SAGE book which will be published in 2019.

The session focuses on the link between teachers and teacher education and it places in the centre the issue of the quality of teachers over a career and the quality of teacher education in challenging times.

In the last years, the Italian government implemented different reforms in order to improve the initial teacher education and to support both the working insertion and the life of Italian teachers. The papers in this symposium present and reflect on the initial and continuous teacher education programs that are following such reforms.

The Propective Members' Session led by EERA President Theo Wubbels and EERA Treasurer Herbert Altrichter will inform non-member delegates about the assistance EERA can offer in building a reasearch association, and explain the process of becoming an EERA member association. Those interested are also welcome to put their questions to the speakers.

In the last years the Italian School system has been characterized by several changes concerning the legislative framework and the institutional organization.

This EERA session takes up current discussions about Open Science in the European Union and the targeted digital research infrastructure European Open Science Cloud (EOSC). Four years ago, the European Commission started a public consultation under the previous term “Science 2.0” about the on-going evolution of research practices enabled by digital technologies.

This session will investigate what EERA, its member associations and their individual members can do to make educational research visible in the upcoming funding scheme of the European Commission (FP9).

This EERA session opens up a discussion space for further developing a European Doctorate in Teacher Education (EDiTE), so far a joint research programme designed by a consortium of five universities and financially supported by the European Union.

In this session, we will examine General Comment No. 4 and its clarification of the right to inclusive education and the corresponding obligation of State parties to ensure an inclusive education system.
