Two Posters Selected for Best Poster 2010!
Due to the exceptionally high standard of posters at the ECER 2010 Emerging Researchers' Conference, the network convenors decided to award two posters with the accolade 'Best Poster'. Both winners, Grace Shiao-En Chng and Giuseppe Ritela, will be invited to attend ECER 2011 in Berlin.
Grace Shiao-En Chng: "Investigating reasoning competence and epistemic cognition of fifth graders in the context of parental socialization"
Grace Shiao-En Chng is a student at Bielefeld University, Germany.
In this poster, she examines the role played by the family in the development of children's epistemology and reasoning skills. She investigates the influence of socio- economic status and parenting styles on the communicative practices in the family, and consequently on the the argumentative competence and epistemological understanding of a child.

Giuseppe Ritella: "Teacher and technology: the configuration of space and time in a collaborative activity"
Giuseppe Ritella is a student from the University of Helsinki in Finland.
His poster, 'Teacher and technology: the configuration of space and time in a collaborative activity' examines the impact of technology on the space-time configurations of an ongoing activity. This dimension is analysed through studying a group of teachers planning activities for their classroom involving the use of a software suite.
