Integrating artificial intelligence (AI) into education revolutionizes teaching and learning, offering unprecedented opportunities while raising complex ethical, pedagogical, and societal challenges. This interactive session will comprehensively examine the transformative potential and risks associated with AI technologies in educational contexts. AI-powered tools, including large language models, adaptive learning systems, and virtual reality environments, are reshaping the educational landscape by enabling personalized learning, automating assessments, and fostering interactive engagement. However, their deployment also raises critical ethical concerns, such as algorithmic biases, data privacy, and the long-term implications of AI-driven decision-making in education.
Key topics we will discuss together in the session are:
- The impact of artificial intelligence on education worldwide, with a particular focus on issues of (in)equality.
- Developing ethical guidelines for the use of artificial intelligence in education and research.
- Essential competencies that enable education stakeholders to understand how AI works, perform critical evaluations, and effectively collaborate and communicate with such technologies in an educational context.
This interactive session aims to cultivate an open and welcoming environment where participants feel encouraged to share their ideas, ask questions, and engage in thoughtful discussions with the speakers and fellow researchers. This is why we are delighted to invite you to reflect on this topic and join us in the discussion.
