Contribution
The current study is an expansion of a small study by the same authors from 2007, and it examines how teacher education students evaluate the mode of video-papers compared to traditional text-types in their readings for the PGCE certificate.
The context of the study is the one year graduate teacher education programme at the University of Bergen, Norway. The reading list for the course includes a number of video-papers on various themes discussed in the theoretical part of the course.
The methodology had two steps. First we examined how many students from the research population chose to include the video-paper in their reading for the course. This was done by an internet questionnaire. Second, we carried out a structured interview with those students who had chosen to read video-papers about their experiences in light of previous experiences with traditional text-types.
