The transition of society from industrial to post industrial society of knowledge with the exceptional attention to a human-being, his knowledge, skills and values as well as the changes in educational paradigm from teaching to learning that influence the changes in higher school are inevitable. What should the student and teacher's activity be oriented to, while aiming to implement the learning paradigm that empowers each student for successful studies in a higher school and effective activity in the future professional sphere? More than that, what educational environment does exist in a higher school at present? And, what educational environment should be to absolutely ensure the possibility for a student to take right approach to learning which leads him to success?The aim of the paper is to reveal if students' approach to learning differ in different educational environment. Fulfilling the task, the research literature study and questionnaire survey were carried out. The paper consists of two parts. In the first part of the paper the notion of educational environment and peculiarities of empowering educational environment are highlighted. It is considered that empowering educational environment enhances students' learning motivation and helps students to take a deep approach to learning instead of surface approach. In order to reveal how students' approach to learning vary in different educational environment, the research of students' approach to learning in different studying modules was carried out. In the second part of the paper the results of this particular survey are presented. Results are analyzed according to this order: first, students' approach to learning was revealed. Then, the peculiarities of studying environment in which survey was carried out were highlighted and the comparison with empowering environment was made. In order to claim that empowering environment is the environment in which deep approach can be taken, it was necessary to prove that different environment has influence on the approach to learning. Therefore, the same sample of students studying in different modules were surveyed.
