The report based on the results of the longitudinal research performed at Vytautas Magnus University, Lithuanian University of Health Sciences and Kaunas College. During the longitudinal research (Brunevičiūtė & Večkienė, 2003; Brunevičiūtė et al., 2004, Veckiene N., Sauleniene S., 2010), there was stated that the multicultural, turbulent and fragmentary character of changing society poses new requirements for helping professions. They are the ones working in multicultural context: organizational context, and context of client.These requirements condition new paradigms of learning and empowerment require competences allowing for communication in a transdisciplinary environments. The analysis of the research results (Brunevičiūtė et al., 2005) allows to state that the all curricula of the education and training of health specialists, social workers and art teachers lack of concrete orientation towards transdisciplinary collaboration.During one of stages of the study we tried to indicate students’ needs. The results of the study identified the structure of the needs for intercultural communication among students of different study program.The problem tackled in last stage of the study was how a transdisciplinary team functions in practice, and how practice helps to project changes in health specialists’, social workers’ and art teachers professional education and training orienting towards learning to work in such team.  As case there was interdisciplinary healthcare and child day care centre team invited in order to analyze a dynamic structure in practice applying the theoretical model. There was clarified the contradictions between vision, theory and the reality.

Cultural-social-educational medium in this team arise the necessary condition of communication and mutual understanding. Thus, the following problem may be formulated: how to create possibilities for transdisciplinary communication learning? The main goal of this presentation is to explore possibilities and preconditions for the communication learning for students in medicine, social work, education and art study programs, focusing on the portfolio strategy.. The presentation consists of four parts based on main study objectives: to discuss contextual demands requiring interdisciplinary communication; to analyze competence future social professionals in multidimensional decision making process and their attitude towards interdisciplinary collaboration; to evaluate perspectives of portfolio strategy application, providing possibility for students to learn how to communicate working in interdisciplinary team and to develop ability for self- reflection.
