In the LL project participative research & development dialogue has been organised as co-design processes carried out by design teams (and later on by development projects). For the design team “Sharing Turbine” the initial idea was to digitise the “White Folder” that had been used at the training centre Bau ABC. In the initial phase of the design process several participative workshops were organised to support this perspective (see the paper of Attwell and Deitmer for ECER 2013). At a later phase the design work had to be redirected to meet better the demands to use mobile technologies in authentic work contexts. This required a critical review on some key assumptions (see Attwell et al. 2013). In the earlier phase the co-design process was trying to develop digital content and facilitation tools for work-oriented learning projects in the training centre. Due to the reorientation in the design process, the challenge is now to develop a mobile ‘toolbox’ that can be adjusted both to the needs of training phase and or real work situations. The authors will report on this ongoing design work and of the research & development dialogue that contributes to the respective solutions
