Contribution

We will consider mobile academics and the links between knowledge, nation, international mobility and identity. In our paper, we will problematise simple policy equations of loss and gain and territory and identity — notions still perpetuated in policy conceptions of ‘brain drain-gain/mobility’ and ‘diaspora’ — and suggest that the profound ambiguity some researchers may feel towards the nation and its institutional structures needs to be considered within policy discourses.
