Contribution
The Swiss Digital School Library represents a national metadata reference system for learning objects, which ensures their broad distribution and exchange. Selected partners provide metadata on these learning objects and enter them in the repository. The metadata are collected according to the application profile LOM-CH which is based on the international standard LOM. On the one hand, LOM-CH takes in account the individual needs of the federalist Swiss education system and on the other hand, guarantees the interoperability between other (international) repositories. Partners of the Swiss Digital School Library are allowed to access the national catalogue (repository) and display a view of the descriptions of learning objects on their own website or portal. According to the principle «Everything, but not from everyone» educa.ch defines the criteria for becoming a partner of the Swiss Digital School Library. Afterwards it's up to the partners to choose and describe the learning objects for publication in the repository. From this point of view OER’s do not represent a special class of resources but must meet the same (quality) criteria as all other learning objects.
