Session Information
25 SES 09, Children’s Rights: Theoretical and Methodological Issues
Parallel Paper Session
Contribution
Despite the adoption of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child, the interest in developing a theoretical grounding for children’s rights education seems to be rather limited. In this presentation, we argue for a better understanding of children’s rights education as a distinctive practice in the educational field. Two different conceptions of children’s rights education are identified: children’s rights education as an implementation strategy for the Convention on the Rights of the Child and children’s rights education as social action. Both conceptualisations will be explored.
