Pathways for better Health and a greener Lifestyle

My paper presentation is based on health concern and teaching of the next generation youth (X=150). My core question is:

How is it possible to impact a small society through education to reduce consumption for a more greener and a healthy lifestyle?

In my presentation I argue on basis of different theories (Antonovsky 2009, The Toronto Charter 2010,UngHUNT 1995-2008,Eriksen 2006/2007). I will also argue for the general impact of Michel Foucault’s (1997) analysis of power/knowledge perspectives according to health and the emergence of a greener lifestyle.

The intention with my paper presentation is to stimulate theoretical discourse within the following Conference in Cadiz. We still have a lack of both empirical and theoretical research on this thematic field, and we need ideological discussions and new perspectives for understanding

Method

This presentation is based on results from the project "Young Consumer in The North" (2008-2011) where 150 Norwegian teenagers in the age of 16-18 years where systematically questioned about their health concern, sport activities, consumption and leasure time. Results are helt up with Global strategis (WHO 2004) and good intentions in the Toronto-charter from 2010, and to the strategies of The PERL Network at Hamar, Norway.

Expected Outcomes

Conclusions: 1.About 28,4 % of the girls were smoking every day, and more than 50 % of both sexes did not follow an after school Sport program. Health Concern and a more greener lifestyle was not a priority among these boys and girls. 2. It seems that The Primary, The Lower and The Upper Secondary Schools are important institutions for teaching and learning about Health concern and lifestyle.
