Annual Report 2003, Hamburg

Network 1 members and visitors to Network 1 enjoyed 27 paper presentations, one interactive workshop, and a social dinner during ECER 2003 in Hamburg. Presenters represented institutions in Finland, Germany, Scotland, Ireland, Sweden, Malta, England, Portugal, USA, Uruguay, Estonia, and Northern Ireland.

Presentations generally clustered within five categories:

  • Induction (national induction programmes in Scotland and Ireland);
  • Teachers’ professional development (teachers as researchers, reflective practice, Scotland’s National Framework for Continuing Professional Development);
  • Leadership (leaders’ professional development, newly appointed heads, teachers’ perspectives, school culture, principals’ personal theories);
  • Curriculum (school demands for students, learning and caring, curriculum reorganisation, emotional intelligence, human relationships, dialogue, general competencies);
  • Evaluation (evaluation of practice, textbooks, whole-school self-evaluation).
Each network holds a Network Meeting during ECER and invites interested researchers to join. We have collected the network meeting minutes.
