Annual Report 2009, Vienna
ECER 2009 in Vienna was a quite successful conference for our network since we registered an increasing number of paper sessions and attendants.
Some examples of papers: «Information Management in a VET Research Institute», «Innovative Scientometric Methods for Monitoring of Research Publications in Educational Science», «Elements of a Knowledge Management System for VET Research in Germany and the EU», «Educational Resources Clearinghouse – A Collaborative and Semantified Information Getaway for Educational Research Data».
In addition to these paper sessions we had also a Cross Network Roundtable entitled «Enhanced Science: How Information Infrastructures can support Communication and Cooperation in Research». Peter Halfpenny (Manchester) and Michael Granitzer (Graz) showed examples of innovative communication infrastructure based on the Internet.
Special Situation of NW 12
Compared to the other EERA networks, Network 12 is different. While other networks deal with their (more or less) dynamic research areas, Network 12 deals with information science and services. This field can also be dynamically improved by research and development, but this kind of research is little represented within EERA what makes it more difficult for our network to get paper submissions and to find an audience. The network members therefore discussed an expansion or rather a redirection of the network activities which finds its expression in the new name of the network: Library and Information Science Network (LISnet).
