Annual Report 2014, Porto

The main activities of Network 12 in 2014 took place during ECER in Porto.

  • Network 12 offered three sessions and a contribution to a poster session.
  • We started the first session of the conference with the paper of Peter Böhm about «Social Tagging vs. Indexation: Comparing an Educational Web Portal to Social Bookmarking». This study focused on a statistical description of the two types of data sources and an ana¬lysis of their respective agreement. The other contribution in this session, by Simão Elisa Lomba, dealt with the topic of teaching and learning information literacy in Portugal. What do students know about information literacy? What is the relationship between information literacy and scholarly achievement? To answer these (and other) questions, a research project in a Portuguese middle school was started with a student assessment about their knowledge on this subject ex ante and ex post.
  • On Friday, network 12 had a joint session together with network 6 about «Open Education Resources and Informational Ecosystems: Impacts on Education» with four contributions from Germany, Austria and Italy. From our network Silvia Panzavolta and Christoph Schindler have been involved in this session.
  • In the past years Network 12 always had a session about recent developments in educational research in European countries – a kind of open session. This year we had reports from Italy (Silvia Panzavolta), Germany (Alexander Botte) and Portugal (Marco Santos).

Each network holds a Network Meeting during ECER and invites interested researchers to join. We have collected the network meeting minutes.
