Annual Report 2008, Göteborg

A total of 64 paper presentations have been included in network 16 at ECER 2008, including 3 symposia. The presentations covered a broad range of subjects related to the implementation and use of ICT in education and training. Symposia addressed findings from a study of the pedagogical practices and ICT use around the world (SITES 2006), Learning in technology enhanced learning environments (TELEs), and the implementation of ICT in primary and secondary education. Paper presentations were grouped into several subthemes, including the use of ICT in primary education, the use of ICT in higher education, teachers and the use of ICT, competences and ICT, ICT in teacher training, and online learning. Sessions were well attended, with several sessions being attended by 30 participants or more.

In addition a symposium was presented as a joint symposium of networks 16 and 4 (Inclusive education). The focus of this symposium was on social, emotional, and behavioural difficulties (SEBD) in pupils. In one of the contributions to this symposium a systematic approach aiming at prevention and intervention of SEBD with ICT support was presented. This symposium brought together researchers from network 16 and researchers from ENSEC (European Network for Socio-Emotional Competence in Children).

A network meeting was held at ECER 2008. At this meeting emerging issues with respect to the reviewing process of paper proposals and the possibility of cooperation in joint projects have been discussed.

Each network holds a Network Meeting during ECER and invites interested researchers to join. We have collected the network meeting minutes.
