The EERA ethnography network saw more than twice as many contributions at ECER 2023 in Glasgow in comparison to the previous two conferences, reaching 33 individual paper presentations, as well as two symposia and a panel discussion. The increase in contributions marks a turnaround from the decline that the ethnography network faced since 2019.
Contributions at ECER 2023 covered a broad range of topics, a wide level of international participation well beyond Europe, and a good level of collegial discussions and feedback. Network development activities focused on further capacity building, a speed networking session during the network meeting, as well as a panel discussion on “Pasts, Presents and Future of Educational Ethnography” with network members Dennis Beach, Juana Sancho Gil, Wes Shumar, and Jürgen Budde.
The network meeting also included the presentation of network procedures that aim at furthering transparent and democratic network governance, as well as the celebration of Dennis Beach being named an honorary member of the ethnography network. The minutes of the network meeting are available for download.
