In 2024, Network 21 has expanded in terms of the submitters nationalities. This year, they came from the following countries: Austria, China, Denmark, Finland, France, Italy, Luxembourg, Malta, Norway, Switzerland and the United Kingdom (a team from Humboldt University, Germany has not been able to participate as the previous years but should be there for ECER 2025).
The network has grown this year, and each ECER is an excellent opportunity to meet new colleagues from different countries. We have to continue to develop contacts to enlarge the network, particularly in the UK and the USA. We are also working on the extent of contacts with the Spanish – and Portuguese – speaking world. The contacts made for the book-in-progress for Bloomsbury also help us expand the network. Contacts with international psychoanalytic associations could also help to raise the visibility of the Network.
This year 21 contributions were accepted for ECER 2024, with a total of 24 presenters. Presentations and activities in Network 21 this year gave an opportunity to explore the concept of uncertainty in different perspectives. We explored how contemporary uncertainty might be subjectively lived by education and training professionals. Following a psychoanalytically oriented approach, some presentations focused on uncertainty in institutions in the field of education. Consequences of uncertainty on the researchers involved in this approach were also considered. Challenges of the educational relationship are always at the heart of the network’s debates.
During our network meeting, the idea to work on research methodologies has emerged. Depending on national characteristics and the history of currents interested in the links between education and psychoanalysis, various clinical research ‘devices’ or ‘apparatus’ have been set up over the years, often evolving in line with the realities encountered in the field.
In NW 21 Special Call for 2025, we invite participants to present different research methodologies through communications or research workshops.
