During the ECER 2012, the NW29 made its public presentation within a Council Invited Session. It assumed the format of a Symposium with the title Research on Arts Education: Discomforts and Urgencies. The session was chaired by the Link Convenor and another Convenor (Catarina Martins and José Paiva) and had four presenters, mainly, PhD students at the Faculty of fine Arts (Ana Catarina Almeida, Samuel Guimarães, Inês Vicente), University of Oporto, and a arts education scholar Phd Teresa Eça. The presentations were focused on political questions about what means to produce knowledge in arts education and artistic research, methodologies and epistemological questions about arts education in the present. More than 30 persons attended the session and participated in the session. After the presentations, a discussion was opened by another Convenor of the Network (Fernando Hernandez) and the people in the room engaged in the conversation. It was the opportunity to start connections with an international audience, which provided us with the contacts of these persons that, in the upcoming conferences, will be taking part in the NW29’s activities and sessions. John Baldachinno, another network’s convenor, was not present at the session, but elaborated a video-response discussing the papers presented at the session. It will be possible, if convenient, to make the video available at the website.
