Annual Report 2016, Dublin
The ECER 2016 in Dublin was the third year of the Network for Language and Education. 12 from the 13 ECER timeslots had one session of network 31. The average number of presenters in each session was 3 and the average number of participants in the sessions was between 15 and 25.
The network received the following submissions: 36 papers, 3 posters 7 symposia and 1 round table, making a total of 77 submissions (25 more than in the previous year). Of these, 13 papers were rejected. In relation to 2015, the rejection ratio increased from 15% to 16%.
The network had a slightly higher rejection ratio than the ECER average (13%), In general, reviewers were stricter and included more feedback to the authors. In cases of large discrepancy between the reviews, one of the networks convenors performed a third review and engaged in a dialogue with the reviewers.
The network meeting had a total of 45 participants and enjoyed great responsiveness. Several activities were planned and the ECER 2017 was discussed (see section the network’s minutes below). The number of reviewers and supporters also increased.
The Network organized two double joint sessions: one with Network 20 (Research in innovative intercultural environments) and another with network 27 (Didactics – teaching and learning).
Overall the quality of presentations was found to be better than in the previous years. Most sessions were well attended and there was a lot of discussion during the sessions.
The joint session with Network 20 (Research in innovative intercultural environments) was truly collaborative and inspired the cooperation on further common activities (e.g. common network projects)
