From text to 'Lived resources': (Mathematics) teachers working with curriculum resources

Birgit Pepin, Sør-Trøndelag University College, Trondheim, Norway

The main aim of this presentation is to investigate how researchers can study resources (e.g. textbooks) and their use by teachers. I shall first present the concept of 'documentation' as construed by Gueudet and Trouche, and how this is understood for individual teachers, and teachers working in 'collectives'. In the second part I shall discuss how this concept can be applied for textbook research and for professional development of (mathematics) teachers. In particular, it is important to investigate methodology and research design of 'resources' studies. Findings from earlier research will be presented as points for discussion.
