EERJ Round Table: Research Impact and Educational Research
Friday, 21 September 2012, 14:00 - 15:00 hours
Room FFL-Aula 1
Increasingly, researchers are being asked to make statements about the impact of their work. The idea of impact varies across university disciplines and this session will explore the range of researcher perspectives on impact from the humanities; medical sciences; mathematical, physical & life sciences; and social sciences. How researchers interpret the value of their work is an important subject for education, particularly since research in education is usually expected to strive for improvement and effect.
The Roundtable will have three speakers, all from the current EERA Council. The main speaker, Dr Alis Oancea (University of Oxford) will discuss 'Interpretations and Practices of Research Impact across the Range of Disciplines'; and this will be followed by Prof Ian Grosvenor (University of Birmingham) and Dr Paula Korsnakova (International Association for the Evaluation of Educational Achievement, Amsterdam), who will discuss their experience of research impacts. The Roundtable will be chaired by Dr Paolo Landri, CNR-IRPPS, Rome.
