EERA Sessions

At this session one of the most influential politicians within education policy in Denmark will participate in a debate on the latest extensive reform of the Danish primary school system.

The Propective Members' Session led by EERA President Theo Wubbels and EERA Treasurer Herbert Altrichter, will inform non-member delegates about the assistance EERA can offer in building a reasearch association, and explain the process of becoming an EERA member association. Those interested are also welcome to put their questions to the speakers.

This session is based on the screening of the film "Tested" followed by a discussion with the author and discussants on the issues raised by the film, both in the USA and other coutries.

The Finnish Educational Research Association (FERA) is celebrating its 50 years anniversary in 2017. To celebrate the anniversary FERA will publish in Finnish an edited book on education, learning and participation. The session is based on the ideas expressed in the book adding voices from our colleagues from other countries. The focus of the session will be on participation.

This Round Table provides conceptual and contextual evidence on methodologies used in school-based education research.

The Brexit and Trump campaigns and their successes have raised anxieties that we have entered – a ‘post-truth’ or ‘post-fact’ world. In Europe and the US, this is associated with the rise of right-wing fundamentalism and a threat to liberal thinking. This symposium explores the phenomenon of the ‘post-fact world’ and its implications for education and research (Peters, 2017).

The purpose of this session is to discuss how the diverse discourses on evidence inform/transform/deconstruct the interrelationships between educational research, policy and practice for the public good in a Glocal context.

Stating that we live in a globalizing world has become a common place in many higher education disciplines, in politics, the media etc., at least in Europe. However, information on the transformational power of curricula good for globalizing general education is scarce. This means that we need research on instruction and the globalizing curriculum, research which is not naive epistemologically, politically, educationally, morally and from an intercultural point of view.

This workshop is designed to provide participants with a generic and basic introduction to the process of journal manuscript preparation and peer review, right through to publication, with specific reference to education journals.
