How to Get Around

Copenhagen offers a well-functioning infrastructure with an extensive local train system that connects the city centre to the suburbs, multiply bus lines, metro and numerous bicycle lanes. Public transportation in Copenhagen is efficient and reliable and it can take you anywhere in the region.

Buses and Harbour Buses
The A-buses are the main buses in central Copenhagen. The A-buses serve at all hours and drive every 4 - 7 minutes during rush hour (07:00 - 09:00 in the morning until 15:30 - 17:30 in the afternoon) and usually about every 10 minutes before and after rush hour.

The yellow harbour buses is a cheap alternative to an official canal tour. For the price of a normal bus ticket you’re able to see Copenhagen from the water side.

Metro
The Metro runs 24/7. During the day and in the evenings, trains run every 2 - 3 minutes and every 20 minutes after midnight.

Suburban Trains (S-trains)
The S-trains run between 05:00 in the morning until 00:30 at night. The different lines run every 5 - 20 minutes. On Friday and Saturday the trains run once an hour between 01:00 and 05:00.

Taxi
You can easily hail a taxi on the street, and most accept all major credit cards. All taxis are clearly licensed and operate at fixed mileage rates. Free Wi-Fi is available in taxis from the company ‘TAXA 4x35’.

If you want to rent a car, there are several international companies with offices in the city centre and at the airport.

Rent a bike

If you want to experience the city the Copenhagen way, it is easy to get hold of a bike. The bicycle offers a cheap and eco-friendly way of getting around and often it's the fastest way of getting around in the city. Copenhagen is has approximately 400 km bicycle lanes and various bicycle bridges. Most bike shops and hotels offer bikes for rent, some hotels even lend bikes to their guests for free. Around Copenhagen you can find intelligent City Bikes, which can be accessed 24/7. The City Bikes each has a touchscreen used for navigation, payment and guiding to points of interest.
