Designing a new European Framework programme: the role of the scientific community

The European Commission is at the early stages of formulating the successor programme to Horizon Europe1 - European Framework Programme 10 (FP10).  Negotiations over the programme and the size of the FP10 budget will start in 2025. The academic and research community is not a passive recipient of the outcome of this process, but as a key stakeholder is increasingly an interested and active participant.  The largest Alliance for Social Sciences and Humanities in Europe (EASSH)  has now been active for over five years to ensure a dedicated space in the research funding for these disciplines where European scholars have consistently delivered in terms of quality at global scale. The talk will provide some practical example of how the Alliance is engaging at political levels in the shaping of the new framework programme.

1 In December 2023 the European Commission assembled an independent adviser group for the EU’s next research programme, officially launching the drafting process for Framework Programme 10.
