Workshop Description

This workshop proposes an interactive BarCamp-style session aimed at stimulating collaboration and idea development around emerging research on inclusive education. The session is designed to create a participatory space where researchers can share early-stage ideas, explore common research interests, and identify opportunities for future collaboration. Participants are welcome to join the workshop either as idea pitchers or as collaborators/respondents. Pitching an idea is optional; active contribution to the discussions is equally valued.

The main objective of the workshop is to support the development of new research initiatives by bringing together researchers who are interested in inclusive education. By creating structured opportunities for discussion and exchange, the workshop aims to facilitate the refinement of research ideas, the identification of shared questions and themes, and the exploration of potential collaborative projects.

Prior to the session, participants will be invited to submit short descriptions of research ideas or project proposals related to inclusive education. During the workshop, these ideas will be briefly presented through short pitches (approximately one minute each). Following the pitches, participants will use a placemat-based selection method (through a collective voting process) to collectively identify a number of ideas that will be explored in greater depth.

The workshop will then move into two rounds of small-group discussions. In the first round, participants will join a group centred around one of the selected ideas and discuss possible research questions, methodological approaches, and opportunities for collaboration. After this discussion, groups will briefly report back in plenary, sharing key insights and potential directions for further development.

Participants will then select ideas for a second round of discussions. During this round, participants may join a different group, allowing ideas to be further developed through new perspectives and combinations of expertise. The session will conclude with a final plenary reflection in which groups present the outcomes of their discussions and identify possible next steps for collaborative research. The aim is not to form full consortia during the workshop, but rather to refine ideas, identify shared interests, and explore small, feasible next-step collaborations.

Through this iterative process of pitching, selecting, discussing and reflecting, the workshop aims to support the collective development of innovative research ideas and strengthen connections between researchers interested in inclusive education.
