Contribution
These projects were developed in the Environmental Education subject, within an alternative curriculum to the current modality, Sistema de Ensino por Unidades Capitalizveis, in Basic Education 3rd cycle adult education. An action/research methodology was followed with implementation of the project work, which adapts well to pupils and to the transdisciplinary character of Environmental Education. Through these projects, pupils acted as active agents in the awareness/education of the target public regarding the environment and developed essential competencies for exercising their full citizenship. The first project, Learning to Separate to Recycle later, contributed to the public's attitude change concerning the separation of urban solid residues, selective gathering and valorisation. The second, Clean Dogs Campaign, called attention to the problematic of the presence of dog defecation in public spaces: esthetic, environmental and health implications. Due to the methodology used, the EE subject has been the catalyst of all of this curriculum's work.
