This paper will present the research, methodological considerations and a selection of the conclusions drawn from a small-scale study located within a urban Scottish faith school, looking at school children's perceptions of prejudice. It will have as its focus two main considerations. Firstly, what kind(s) of prejudice do young people confront both within and outwith the space we call school. The term 'prejudice' was presented to the pupils with its loosest/widest meaning. The study reveals that for these students, school is not primarily a locus for religious sectarianism, but that it is a place where other more universal forms of prejudice and exclusion do exist. and cause damage to the social fabric of the school community and the individuals targeted for their perceived difference. The paper will also present a consideration of the difficulties associated with the methodology of researching what are a personally complex and politically sensitive issues.
