The aim of the paper is to describe digital literacy practices and their relation to the reading literacy activities and achievements based on PISA 2000 data. The focus of this presentation is on computer literacy and network literacy, which are subcategories of multiliteracy. The data (N=4864) was gathered in the context of the OECD Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) in the spring 2000. It was analysed by cross tabulations and regression analyses. The findings suggest that students who used computers performed better in a reading literacy assessment than those who didn't use computers at all. Active computer users were also usually active readers. The preliminary findings suggest that computer activities support particularly skills of retrieving information. The findings are discussed from the perspective of digital literacy practices and their relation to the reading literacy and for deepening understanding of multiliterate youth culture.
