This study concentrates on parents of children with special needs. The main questions are: How do the parents perceive their children's school situation (support, relations, roles, school motivation, school behaviour)? How do parents perceive the co-operation with their children's school teachers (communication, information, participation, responsibility, roles) How does the school situation influence the home situation and vice versa? The investigation method is qualitative. Forty parents were interviewed, 23 parents with negative experiences of school and 17 parents with positive experiences. The age of the children was around 12. The analyses of the negative encounters are divided into three groups. Children with learning difficulties, where the vulnerability of the child is quite obvious. Children with difficulties in the learning situation, where there are risk factors both inside the child, in the home and in the school. Bullied children, where the risk factors are mostly found in the school
