A significant evolution within higher education in Europe is the integration of information and communication technology. The general objective of the current research is to determine undergraduate students' attitudes toward the use of information and communication technologies for study related activities. A first aim is to develop an instrument measuring student attitudes toward the use of computers for study-related tasks. A second aim is to investigate the extent to which study-related computer attitudes are affected by other individual characteristics, such as computer competence, perceived usefulness of computers, computer experience and computer confidence. In order to answer the two questions, two separate studies were conducted. Questionnaire data were collected among undergraduate students in the social sciences. I a first study (2000; n=211) research instruments were developed and validated. The second study (2001) tried to examine the degree of study-specific computer attitudes and to assess the relevant individual characteristics related to study-specific computer attitudes.
