Currently, there's a debate going on concerning the consequences of the recent feminization of the teaching profession. Concerning actual differences between male and female teachers, we can only deduce incoherent and even contrastive indications from the research literature. Our study on the well-being of teachers suggests a gender differentiation. In the perceptions of different actors involved in education, feminization is often related to the social status of the profession. The results of own research tend to confirm this. Moreover, an other own study suggests a relation between the well-being of teachers and their perception of the social valuation of the profession. At the conference, we will present and discuss the studies mentioned above, the theoretical frame, the research questions and methodology of our planned research. That study will combine the hypotheses and conclusions formulated above on the relations between the feminization, the social valuation of the teaching profession and the well-being of teachers.
