Recurring a ethnographic research, the academic reception to the new students in Oporto University (called "praxe", witch mean "the conventional rule") is view as a transition ritual, as a group of symbolic practices that were a part of statutory transition and even as the ritualization of the passage between childs and adolescents dependency and adult autonomy. This social fact resume at him self the separation, the transition and the aggregation of initiates rituals. The process in focus has unique characteristics: it's completely organized by the older students without any institutional intervention and it has a notorious hierarchy, fact that create a submission relation between students, witch mediate the integration of the first year students. It's expected to do a comparative study of spontaneous discourses of the university students integration processes in two different licentiate's degree with distinct approaches of the "praxe" phenomenon: significant manifestations of integration rituals in the first degree in Computing and Informatics Engineering of the Faculdade de Engenharia da Universidade do Porto and on the other hand the first degree in Educational Sciences of the Faculdade de Psicologia e Ciencias da Educação of the Universidade do Porto. The Educational Sciences Licentiate degree has some kind of specificities, particularly related with their students' population. The majority of these students have yet a graduation in Higher Education, so Educational Sciences works like a complementary academic formation. This fact happens, because, some time ago, the Portuguese educational system don't recognize a graduation superior then "bacharelato" (three years of formation in technical studies, which in spite of being considered like Higher Education, wasn't considered University Studies) to some professionals like nurses, kinder garden teachers, elementary teachers and service workers, who needs looking for a college degree to obtain a licentiate degree and so promote their career enhancement. The ethnographic methodology it's complemented by the resource to inquiries by interviews with the objective of know the daily life experiences as freshman students. It's proposed a comparative study of spontaneous discourses of the university students integration processes in two different licentiate's degree. The ethnographic methodology it's complemented by the resource to inquiries by interviews and the contents analyses with the objective of know the daily life experiences as freshman students. The empirical results appoint to the primordial importance of the partipation in the initiates rituals for the integration process in the new academic level and in a new way of live. It matters that the "praxe" phenomenon works as a positive catalyser to the construction of statutory identity. Another conclusion of this study it's related with the submission relationship subjacent to this transition rituals that were experienced by the first year students as a "price to pay" for their entrance in the University world.
