In this chapter the University of Barcelona and partner schools' network describes the research and development associated with creating educational networks designed to improve teachers' professional autonomy. Specifically, the chapter addresses the results and implications of six key areas associated with professional autonomy within networks: work intensification versus professional autonomy; moving from assessment to the accountability values; promoting learning cultures; networks as a shared learning environments; cooperative deliberation in networks; and action research in networks. The chapter describes the steps taken in the network to foster teachers' professional autonomy.
