Difficulties connected with the promotion and acceptance of the system for recognition and validation of prior learning outcomes are mentioned in relation with the situation in the Czech Republic as a model. Initial reflections on the implications for Poland and the Slovak Republic will be presented. Key words: (6 z European thesaurus) informal learning. non formal learning, formal learning, lifelong learning, vocational training, competence, validation of non formal learning
