Description: For quality improvement of lesson, there are mainly three important standpoints ((1) the way of lesson, (2) text, (3) short tests and exercises). Tsubaki and Ishida (2005) conducted a questionnaire survey using conjoint measurements about the teaching method and the Study Method. The questionnaire included attributes based on three standpoints. Tsubaki, Kobayashi and Shiina (2006) study about the way of lesson and short test / exercises. Then, this paper shows our achievement about constructing text of applied mathematics practicable for current university students as good transforming knowledges.
Methodology: The questionnaire of Tsubaki and Ishida (2005) had 6 attributes related with construction of text; (1) Learning contents (Level 1: Learning begins with theory, Level 2: Only solve applied exercises), (2) Kind of textbook (Level 1: Learn using only the text designated in class, Level 2: Learn not only the text but also other reference books), (3) Consideration of practicality (Level 1: Consider future practicality in learning, Level 2: Consider nothing), (4) Approach to mathematics (Level 1: Wishing to learn conventional (encoded) mathematics, Level 2: Wishing to learn logical mathematics), (5) Example of applications (Level 1: It is better to conduct class by demonstrating application cases how mathematics is used in society in the class, Level 2: It is better to conduct class focusing on understanding the unit contents), (6) Teaching materials (Level 1: We want teachers to distribute materials other than textbooks and to direct us the way to understand the contents more deeply in the class, Level 2: We make efforts to find method to deepen our understanding for ourselves). This paper construct a practicable text based on the results for these attributes obtained from current university students.
Conclusions: This paper produce a textbook of applied mathematics about analysis based on general linear mixed models. The table of contents of the textbook contains : (1) Mapping (2) Composition of mappings (3) Operation of matrix (4) Linear mapping (5) Projection (6) Analysis based on General linear model (7) Analysis based on General linear mixed model (Restricted maximum likelihood estimation).
