PISA 2000 and 2003 showed that Denmark differed from most OECD countries as 2nd generation bilingual students performed worse than 1st bilingual generation. A problem is, however, that bilingual students only form a small part of the two PISA studies, thus making detailed studies of the correlation with ethnic and social background plus peer-effects impossible. To overcome this barrier a separate study sampling schools with a high proportion of bilingual students with PISA 2000 test materials were started in 2005. The results which is published in April 2007 show significant effects of among other things ethnic background, language spoken in the home. Also peer-effects are shown to be of importance
