ERG SES C 07, Arts and Education
How do I research drawing on visual arts teacher education? With this initial question, this text intends to demonstrate the methodological interpretations of my ongoing investigation at Art Education Doctoral Program in Porto University - UPORTO with PhD advisor of Dr. José Carlos de Paiva e Silva - UPORTO and co-advisor of Drª Renata Wilner from Federal University of Pernambuco – UFPE. Focused on drawing at visual arts teacher education, designed since curriculum guidelines and the bridges between artistic/educative practices, I appropriate and considerate the Arts-Based Research in Arts Education, as established by McNiff (1998), Marín (2005) and Hernández (2008) through an autoethnographic narrative (Ellis, 2004 e Denzin; 2006) dialogued with the becoming of a professor/artist/researcher perspective, rereading Irwin (2004) understanding. The investigation objective is understand and interpret drawing since curriculum guidelines in visual arts teachers education at Federal University of San Francisco Valley – UNIVASF and UPORTO, to observe discourses invenstions, to historicize narratives in specfic emphases. Also I am concerned to analyze understandings and conceptualizations of Designare using interviews to drawing professors on those institutions. Using visual and writen narratives, I will reflect about the construction of drawing in the investigation. Thus, I visualize different possibilities of building bridges (Räsänen, 1997) at an Art Education based research, and how theories and artistic/educative practices can signalize drawing as an important expression in artistic formation and a indicative for understanding visual arts teacher education quality.
