11 SES 12 A, How to Improve Effectiveness in Institutions of Higher Education
Paper Session
Contribution
Deep transformation which occurred in cultural, social-economic and political life of tour country defined an appearing of the new values in the education area. The demands to the personality of a pedagogue and psychologist, his/her professional activity characteristics and teaching competences are increasing. Success of psycho-pedagogical activity at the university depends not only on professional knowledge and skills. In many cases it is defined by adequate students’ perception of the peculiarities of the study process. Conscious perception and understanding of a lecturer provides success in mastering professional knowledge and skills of an applied psychologist. Nowadays a practice of learning both in secondary and higher schools collides with the necessity to constrain students to acquire new knowledge which allegedly promise them achieving success in personal and then in further professional life. In the theory of adaptation any skill or knowledge are primarily necessary for better adaptation to existing reality. Those skills, knowledge and competences which don’t assist this process can not find in a person enough free energy and motivation for the new knowledge learning. The phenomenon is in that many people express an enhanced resistance to the new knowledge learning. It points out to the crises of the modern philosophy of general education where crises boundary line passes between needs of society and needs of individual. It is also curious that a marked part of students who are involved into a process of obtaining education are more interested in symbolic forms of their knowledge confirmation (diploma/certificate) than in real acquirement of knowledge, habits and skills and in their further creative application. Since an ancient time human society aspires to create a universal model of education for all the members of society. But it is necessary to recognize that it is impossible to build up a universal system which will become a common weal. Though, diversity of forms, approaches and learning styles which could even contradict with each other is able to increase an interest and value of education process.
