Paper Session: continued from 09 SES 05 C
Contribution
In the last decade, institutions and schools have increased their use of student or teachers rating scales as an evaluative components of the teaching system. These evaluations are conducted by different parties, including teacher educators, researchers and the government. The identification and determination of teacher competences are thus crucial in education. But only in few cases they considered the thinking of student’s parents to evaluate the competences of teachers.
This research is set in Italy.
The main aim of this study was to analyze the perception of different kind of teacher’s competence from parents. We considered the four kind of school: maternal, low, middle and high. And we selected a representative sample of parents for each type of school.
A sample of 2892 parents was enrolled in the study and received a self-administration questionnaire including questions about different competences: disciplinary, educational, managerial and organizational competences, capability to communicate with school and with children’ family and personal aspect. 489 parents completed the questionnaire in kindergartens, 975 in primary schools, 638 in middle schools, and the remaining 790 in high schools.
