Contribution
Creative Connections is an EU Comenius project (2012-2014), which aims to develop and promote multi-modal trans-country connections, between pupils in six European countries, using a self-dedicated website (www.creativeconnexions.eu). The project’s intention is to promote communication between pupils in order to develop a ‘connectedness’, deemed vital in the promotion of any kind of shared understanding, between individuals. The Creative Connections website provides a blogging platform for a multi-lingual dialogue (using automatic machine translation) about art works created by pupils in schools across the six countries. The pupils’ voices are promoted through: visual media (images they that created) and a written description (written by the pupils) which describes their image. Other pupils then upload their responses to the work and enter into a dialogue about the image(s). For many pupils the creative, practical and social aspects of the project’s art making, partnered with informal online discussion with peers, allowed for their funds of knowledge to be valued and utilized. This paper will explore the initial findings from the project in relation to promoting an online dialogue between the pupils in the different counties.
