Session Information
16 SES 13, ICT-Based Self-Regulated Learning in Higher Education (Part 2)
Symposium: continued from 16 SES 12
Contribution
In a knowledge-based society research is significant in all scientific fields. Higher education institutions should provide flexible and innovative courses for developing students’ research skills. Students should acquire scientific thinking and research methods in a more effective and insightful way. In order to achieve this, the functionalities of INSPIREus (The Intelligent System for Personalized Instruction in a Remote Environment for US) as an Adaptive Hypermedia e-Learning Environment (AHeLE) were applied in developing personalized e-Courses. An attempt was made to design a conceptual framework for aligning Learning Styles (LSs) to Self-Regulated Learning (SRL) in order to support personalized learning by placing emphasis on learners’ preferences. Furthermore, the proposed framework embeds collaborative strategies so as to strengthen the social indicators of learners’ performance. The study aimed at delivering an e-learning environment customized to the learner’s profile in order to guide learners in developing their own learning paths and to collaborate effectively, thus helping them to get acquainted with scientific thinking and research methods.
