In order to develop the Finnish Universities of Applied Sciences (UAS) the Ministry of Education in Finland finances networks and their activities which co-operate in national and international level. One such recent cooperated activity is the eJournal of Kever. The main aim of this paper is to study the very nature of this collaboration using social network analysis and content analysis. This study includes the quantitative and qualitative analyses concerning the articles, other entries and the profile of the KeVer eJournal authors. By financing these kind of networks the Ministry of Education in Finland is able to promote actions and themes stated in national higher education policy (Sund 2007). Most of the authors and readers value the KeVer eJournal as giving information and development of know how. On the contrary, the Journal is less a marketing channel, neither do the members seek problem solving from KeVer. There are some members seeking empowerment and partners for doing together to support their everyday work. Most of the participants have considered their role related to learning and information acquirance. Electronic networking by reading and writing to KeVer’s online journal is a growing activity, by mesuring both the numbers of articles and number of writers from different sectors of the working life and institutions of higher education. Researchers` and developers` network KeVer has published an electronic journal since 2002. Journal comes out four times yearly. It handles actual themes of Finnish universities of applied sciences. The sections are: editorial, articles (4 - 6), referum-articles, book-reviews, acitivity of research groups and news. The topic of the study is to analyse the content of KeVer-eJournal from different perspectives and compare the results to the SNA results of the Kever Network. How does the eJournal represent the results of the network analysis, what are the similarities and differences. In the focus of the study are also the changes that have happened during the period of the publishing (2002-2008). This study concentrates in the authors and contents of referee articles, articles and columns as well as to other written products published.

The first strategy is to analyze a specific and strictly defined network by using social network analysis (SNA). The second strategy is to construct a network from opinions and self reflections of actors of network. The new resources are created through two generic processes: combination and exchange. (Moran, Ghoshal 1996, Nahapiet, Ghoshal 1998, 247). Networked activities play a particularly important role in diffusion and adoption of innovations (Rogers 1995). SNA is a group of methods targeted to analyse and piece together social structures and make them more transparent. SNA consists of mapping and measuring of relationships and flows between people or information processing entities. The nodes are defined to be people and groups while the links show relationships or flows between the nodes. (Krebs 2006.) Social structures and interdependencies are often invisible but sometimes possible to trace by observing activities and documents or by questinoaries (Kantola & Hautala 2008).

The conclusions are represented from the following perspectives: (1) The authors and quantitative content or the KeVer- eJournal: changes in the number and organisation of the authors, the number of referee articles, articles and columns. (2) The theme of the referum articles and articles: are there some stable topics over the years, some particular themes in certain years which reveal the attitudes toward the collaboration. (3) What is the equivivalence between the network analysis and this eJournal content analysis. (4) Is it so that, in order to profile the Kever eJournal more towards to the practical orientation the collaboration could be directed towards team writing (See. Lambert et al 2005). (5) The international dimension and how to develope it will be also on of the topics of our paper.
