Contribution
The purpose of this study is to examine the effects of employing Web 2.0 technologies and digital videos on the self-efficacy of teacher candidates during the teaching practice. The sample of the study consists of 10 ICT teacher candidates. Teaching practice activities of teacher candidates at the schools were recorded in videos 3 times at different periods and uploaded on a Web 2.0-based social network -“Facebook” and shared with other candidates, adviser at the faculty, and the guiding teacher at the school. All the corresponding participants in this procedure analyzed the videos and exchanged their comments relevant to each video. In this study, a survey developed by Tschannen-Moran ve Hoy (2001) was conducted to investigate teacher’s self-efficacy. Additionally, qualitative data consisting of electronic comments made on each video were collected to examine the development process of self-efficacy of teacher candidates. The findings of the survey show that there is a positive developmental process in the self-efficacy of teacher candidates. The analysis of the qualitative data also supports these results. The utilization of Web 2.0 technologies along with digital videos in teaching practice courses was found to be an effective tool to develop teacher candidates’ self-efficacy.
