Session Information
WERA SES 10 C, WERA Yearbook Symposium
WERA Invited Symposium
Contribution
This symposium presents and examines the purpose and ambitions of the World Education Research Yearbook. With the recent publication of the 2015 inaugural volume, this session takes a critical look at the state of international, comparative, and worldwide research and the role of such a publication in stimulating interest and attention to such work. Editors and authors in this first volume will address several key questions--why undertake research that takes on an international or worldwide framing, what are the challenges in presenting and stimulating interest in such work, and how does their work add to broader knowledge by virtue of being part of a volume with authors who share similar goals and struggles. In this symposium, presenters will focus on why or whether international research perspectives and dissemination of such work make contributions in countries and contexts where scholars and practitioners have very specialized interests and concerns.
